Death of a Pioneer:
Daniel Gunckel, one of the pioneers of Germantown, died at an early
hour Friday morning, at the residence of his son-in-law Mr. Joshua
Derr, in that place, aged about 81 years.  Mr. Gunckel was a native
of Centre County, Pennsylvania, and came to German township about the
year 1804 when the settlement was small.  He had lived there ever
since, and he was ever been noted for his uprightness of character. 
he was buried yesterday, in the Germantown Cemetery.
